Lomo for the day – Blossom

Another cross processed shot, this was taken last spring when the blossom trees were in full bloom. The cross processing has turned the white blossom into a greeny-yellow against bright blue sky now grainy gritting blue. Definitely adding a new dimension to what would be a peaceful scene.

This has been up on my Flickr feed for some time now, check it out for more of my latest shots and going ons.

Last Sunday I attended Focus on Imaging 2010 which was still bustling as ever. I’ve been looking into finding a suitable gear bag for my upcoming trip to Chicago later this year. I must say the folks at both the Lowepro and Thinktank stands were friendly, helpful and most informative. I think I will be possibly settling on the Lowepro’s Fastpack 250 which seems to come the closest to my needs so far.

Shot for the day – A Token Mouse

This cute little wooden mouse is one of the few tokens I brought on my trip to Prague. He currently sits watching the world on the top of my pc case.

A full update coming soon, until then I will be somewhere at Focus on Imaging 2010 this weekend.

Lomo for the day – Amanda Palmer at the Electric Ballroom

This was taken almost a year ago at a gig by Amanda Palmer, a wonderful eccentric musician originally known for her part in the duo The Dresden Dolls. Performing alongside her solo tour was the performance group The Danger Ensemble.

In this shot we have a member of the group conducting/beginning an auction to raise money to help cover costs for the performance group. I’m so happy how it turned out as shooting with the LC-A at gigs can be unpredictable, but all the more exciting. You can see Amanda laughing the background on the right.

I hope to bring more shots from that evening later on.

Lomo for today – Travelling ahead

This shot was taken with my LC-A last year from my trip to Prague. This was one of two rolls which I’ve had cross processed and I really love the noise and tones that were brought out.

Places to photograph #1 The Church of Bones in Kutná Hora, Czech Republic

Main HallA short train ride away from the Czech Republic’s capital city of Prague (Praha) is a little place called Kutná Hora where lies the Sedlec Ossuary. Known as ‘The Church of Bones’ this ossuary contains the remains of 40,000 and 70,000 people. To deal with the overwhelming amount of bones the church itself is decorated with bones of the dead.

There is something frightfully intriguing by the resulting display but also remarkably photogenic. I myself visited Prague last year and went to see the church myself and it was certainly worth a visit.

This had always been on my list of places to photograph ever since I first discovered it existed. Despite its eerie subject matter and sinister appearance I think it’s unique and fascinating.

Moo.com

MOO Business Cards

Moo.com is a printing site full of exciting products to turn your photos into something special, from their ever popular and versatile classic minicards (recently repackaged to feature in a new spanking box) to stickers, this is a site worth well a look. Especially for users of flickr where it’s been made easy to import photos straight from your account.

Today I ordered another set of business cards in preparation for the upcoming exhibition. So far every person who’s seen my previously printed business cards have been impressed with their quality and their look.

I can also report that my Fisheye 2 camera has arrived! I hope to get a roll shot quickly so I can tell you all about it.

Preparation has kicked off for the incoming exhibition at the Carre Gallery, I will be handing out invites to the opening night soon. I hope you can make it and join me for what will be a pleasant evening of photography and the fellow company of the Boston Camera Club.

Camera Club Meeting/My first exhibition

I attended my first Boston camera club meeting in ye olde White Hart yesterday evening. Invited by photographer Pete Norton, I am hopefully due to join the camera club exhibition where three of my wonderful images will be on show.

The exhibition will be held from Monday 7th December till Saturday 12th December at the Carre Gallery in Sleaford, there will be an opening night which will be by invitation only (Though no doubt if you live in the area I will drop you an invite). However the images will be free to view any time across the six days between 10am till 4pm.

As you can imagine I’m rather excited about the prospect and there is much to sort out and do before the event and I’ll report on my ongoings as they happen.

I’m also awaiting on the arrival of a new Lomography Fisheye 2 camera probably swimming about in the mail system. This, and many other beauties caught my eye while visiting the Lomography shop in London one previous weekend.

Fingers crossed it arrives soon since I have some great opportunities coming up to test it out.
